Job Introduction Do you have personal experience of mental health challenges and a passion for supporting others? This exciting new development within Lincolnshire, based in Grantham, welcomes enthusiastic and experienced applicants to apply for this rare opportunity to be involved in shaping a brand new pilot service that will support individuals stepping down from acute mental health wards to transition into the community. The service will be delivered in partnership with Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust and will form part of the NHS Mental Health Pathway. The service will be going live in October 2025, with a full training and induction programme for the team, commencing prior to go live. The role of a Peer Support Worker has been developed specifically for people who have lived experience of mental ill health. Through sharing examples of their own experiences, Peer Support Workers will inspire hope and belief in individuals to enable them to manage during difficult or distressing situations. Role Responsibility Together with a team of Recovery Workers, you will be responsible for delivering person centred support to individuals leaving acute mental health wards, who are transitioning back into the community. As a pivotal and highly valued member of the team, you will provide both formal and informal peer support and practical assistance to guests of the service, in order for them to regain control of their lives, and help them develop their own unique skill set that promotes longer term recovery. This role may involve some on rota time, which may include evenings and weekends. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for a patient, non-judgement individual who is able to use their own experience and journey of recovery to support our service user group, in a compassionate and respectful way. Our ideal candidate will have had experience in providing face to face support as well as experience in delivering small group sessions to a diverse population of individuals. This will involve 1-1 client work, liaising with the clients mental health teams and managing and reviewing client risk levels. Our ideal candidate has a firm grasp of Recovery Principles and is willing to complete their Accredited Peer Support Training. We are looking for an individual who is resourceful, resilient and innovative in their approach to working with individuals with complex mental health needs. Team working is essential, as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside effective communication skills and a flexible and supportive approach to delivering the service provision. Our ideal candidate will be confident in assisting to facilitate group work as well as independently support individuals on a 1-1 basis.
