Job Description

Energy One, a global leader in energy trading software products and operational services, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Developer (mid-level) to join our team. The Software Developer (mid-level) (2-3 years+) to join the technology team at Energy One working on both core product and bespoke customer driven solutions.

The role

We are Microsoft gold partner software house and our primary technology stack is SQL server, .NET/C# and Webforms with some WebApi, WCF, WPF and SignalR for specific modules. We host the majority of our customers on our own Azure IaaS platform. Our primary legacy software stack is built on WebForms and stored procedures, but in late 2022 we started the push into .NET core, entity framework and dependency injection in order to fully take advantage of new stack. All major technical architectural rebuilds have been completed in recent months.

We are looking to further innovate the product from stack point of view namely UI and take advantage of cloud native tools but with agnostic approach in mind to improve user experience, security and performance. We are keen to hire someone who can be involved in the transition and help drive this movement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proficient understanding of the .NET stack, encompassing C# and common libraries within .NET, with exposure to .NET Core.
  • Good knowledge in web technologies including HTML and CSS.
  • Solid knowledge of SQL, demonstrating an understanding of the performance implications associated with query design decisions.
  • Familiarity with fundamental principles of good code design and structure at both method and class levels. Proficiency in SOLID design principles and other clean code architecture approaches.

Main responsibilities

  • Write clean, reliable, secure, and well tested code.
  • Develop clean, reliable, secure, and thoroughly tested code.
  • Generate high-quality software in adherence to specifications and estimates.
  • Provide accurate estimates of development time for completing specifications.
  • Advocate for code reuse and the implementation of automated testing.
  • Take ownership of code quality and assume responsibility for addressing issues.
  • Fix bugs (both internally raised and customer issues).
  • Resolve issues with a high degree of reliability, in an efficient manner, while minimizing regression in other areas.
  • Integrate automated unit or integration tests to cover bug scenarios.
  • Adhere to best practice guidelines, engage in peer code reviews, and cultivate a robust understanding of the product and domain.
