The Asymchem APIM Engineering Maintenance team provides support for the manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) at the Asymchem UK Pilot Plant.
Our team is responsible for the installation, continuous improvement, compliance and maintenance of pharmaceutical equipment, and facility assets. These include state of the art equipment such as batch reactors, continuous manufacturing module processes, utilities, and HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) systems.
Our maintenance team support a wide range of critical process equipment and utility systems to ensure they operate safely, reliably, efficiently and compliantly to safeguard product quality and patient safety.
You will join and work closely with an experienced team of highly motivated engineers and support staff, as well as working in partnership with contract service providers.

In this highly regulated industry, you will need to conduct all activities in accordance with regulations and standards set by the Pharmaceutical, Environmental, and Health & Safety regulatory bodies as well as maintaining Good Engineering and Manufacturing Practices.
An opportunity has arisen to apply for the position of Mechanical Maintenance Engineer within the Engineering Maintenance team.
The successful candidate will support Electrical and Instrumentation & Control Engineers within Engineering to maintain compliance, productivity and production capability.
Perform planned maintenance in accordance with work order instructions and associated procedures.
Utilise multi-skilled training by working with both Controls & Instrumentation and Electrical Engineers.
Providing Mechanical Engineering Maintenance, installation, and project support to ensure that pharmaceutical equipment and supply services operate safely, reliably and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Perform testing in accordance with scheduled, documented tasks and in accordance with mechanical engineering standards
Report equipment services or events which are out of regulatory compliance using relevant procedures
Adhere to Work Management including planning, coordinating, work scheduling, spares, and resources for repairs
Communicating equipment status to Operational Personnel and Facilities
The ideal candidate will have completed a minimum of a 4-year recognised Engineering Apprenticeship to minimum HNC level plus a minimum of 5 years post apprenticeship relevant industry work experience plus -
Experience of working within the Pharmaceutical Environment (desirable)
Mechanical (Ex11) – CompEx trained
Knowledge of GxP, GEP, DSEAR in Engineering Applications and other statutory regulations as it relates to manufacturing operations
Electrical would be advantageous
Experience of working within a regulated maintenance environment.
User level computer knowledge for completing documentation and email
User level knowledge of computerised maintenance management systems
Applicants must be motivated and possess a strong work ethic, the ability to meet deadlines and to take ownership of tasks and projects as well as being an open, honest and an ethical person, with excellent attention to detail.
Other personality traits required are being a self-starter able to operate with the minimum of supervision and possessing excellent communication skills.
They should be capable of applying their qualifications, work experience and understanding to applications as well as showing a willingness to continue learning.
