Job Description

We are looking for a Research Associate to join our Discovery team to help drive early-stage R&D projects using our proprietary antibody discovery platform. This lab-based positions will involve selections, protein expression and immunological cell assays to enable identification and characterisation of bispecific antibodies. You will have the opportunity to contribute towards our projects and learn a wide range of techniques used within the bispecific drug discovery process.

This role is for a 2 year period to provide additional support through an exciting and busy time.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

• Selections using multiple display platforms

• Screening and characterisation of antibody molecules

• Cloning, expression and purification of bispecific molecules

• Contribute to the development of biophysical and phenotypic assays

• Design and execute a diverse range of experiments to high quality enabling decision making

• Analyse, interpret and report experimental data to line manager and team

• Work effectively in a small team and with cross-functional team members

A BIT ABOUT YOU:

We are looking for a passionate researcher who is adaptable and keen to learn. You will have effective communication skills and proven ability to work well in teams and individually. You’ll be organised with strong attention to detail. This is a busy role with deadlines to meet and therefore you’ll be able to prioritise your workload and adapt quickly to change when needed.

YOUR SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Essentials:

  • BSc or MSc in a biological subject with relevant lab experience in academic or biotech setting
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in cell/molecular biology
  • Cloning, sequence alignment and analysis
  • Mammalian cell culture
  • Understanding of concepts in antibody drug discovery

Desirable:

  • Experience in phage or yeast selections
  • Experience measuring protein-protein interactions e.g. SPR, BLI
  • Experience in flow cytometry
  • Experience performing ELISAs
  • Understanding of assays using immune cells
  • Previous industry experience in R&D drug discovery role

OTHER DETAILS:

Our Laboratories and office space are based on the Babraham Research Campus, South Cambridgeshire. This lab-based role is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week.
