Scottish Power Renewables are looking for an Offshore Sub Station Electrical Equipment Engineer to join their EA2 & EA1N projects, based in either London or Glasgow.

Main Purpose of Job
The OSS Electrical Equipment Engineer is a critical role within the Offshore Business focusing on the delivery of the MEQ packages for East Anglia 2 (EA2) and East Anglia 1N (EA1N) offshore wind projects which are in the South-East of the UK.
Reporting to the MEQ Package Manager, the OSS Electrical Equipment Engineer will be responsible for leading activities during the tendering and negotiation of relevant agreements leading to the successful negotiation of the MEQ contract and successful Final Investment Decision for EA2 and EA1N. The role shall be responsible for coordinating the review and negotiation of technical Employer Requirements (ERs) as well as associated interfaces, to ensure company and business standards are agreed with the MEQ supplier(s).
The individual will be working as part of a global business with teams located in various teams in Europe. The position may require travel to various locations in Europe, to support contract negotiations. The individual will be required to lead discussions with the preferred MEQ supplier(s) and will be required to manage teams working at different project locations.
Key Tasks
Scope, tender and appoint the requisite electrical design activities to develop and support a robust electrical design basis appropriate for the necessary stages of project development
Manage the provision of main electrical equipment design data for input into electrical design studies and other design activities e.g. offshore and onshore substations
Lead the main electrical equipment package scope of works to ensure that main electrical equipment is specified, designed, manufactured, tested, stored, delivered to site, installed and commissioned to meet project requirements and industry best practice
Ensure that all assessments, advice and recommendations are fully documented in accordance with all internal procedures and industry best practice, and that sufficient technical and commercial due diligence (whether internal or external) exists to support those business decisions
Maintain full awareness of the latest technical and commercial developments and identify suitable new technology that has the potential to reduce cost and/or risk or improve safety.
Review of contractor/manufacturer’s documentation to ensure it complies with project and business requirements and negotiation of required changes with the equipment supplier.
Management of quality assurance/control inspections and witness key tests during the electrical equipment manufacturing stage e.g. factory acceptance tests according to the inspection and test plan.
Ensure the successful installation of all equipment supplied under the Main Electrical Equipment contract.
Support the project commissioning team to ensure the successful commissioning of all equipment supplied under the Main Electrical Equipment contract.
Ensure lessons learnt regarding offshore wind farm development, construction and operation are captured and shared across the different projects (large work packages). Establish the right mechanisms for this process and ensure that the engineering team implements them to enhance business value.
Key Criteria
Extensive knowledge and experience in EHV/HV electrical equipment related to large scale offshore wind farms and related grid connections
Extensive experience in the area of Electrical and Grid Works related to offshore wind covering and/or transmission and generation projects related to system studies, system behaviours.
Extensive experience in the engineering, procurement, and construction or operation of EHV/HV equipment related to offshore wind covering:
EHV/HV Switchgear
Power transformers
Neutral Earthing Transformers/Reactors
Shunt Reactors/Capacitors
Reactive Power Compensation Equipment
Harmonic Filters
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline with a higher level degree (e.g. MEng) desirable.
Extensive experience designing and working in the power generation, transmission or networks sector.
Extensive experience in dealing with health, safety and environmental legislation associated with construction, marine and offshore projects.
Proven experience in delivery of electrical equipment design, procurement and installation works, including contract management, programme management, cost and risk control.
Ability to influence and develop key project and business decisions.
Sound planning and analysis skills with the ability to look forward and see / anticipate problems and thereafter plan and implements mitigating solutions to negate the effect of such problems.
