The ideal candidate will need to possess a blend of clinical skills, personal qualities, and professional attributes to provide effective and compassionate care, these include:
Comprehensive Understanding of SCI: Knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, and complications associated with spinal cord injuries.
Assessment and Monitoring: Ability to assess and monitor clients for changes in their condition, including signs of autonomic dysreflexia, pressure ulcers, and respiratory issues.
Understanding the emotional and psychological impact of SCI on clients and their families, and providing support and encouragement
Patience and Resilience: Ability to handle challenging situations and provide consistent care over long periods
Effective communication with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of clients and the dynamic nature of community healthcare.
Educating clients and their families about SCI management and advocating for their needs within the healthcare system.
You will have management responsibilities, overseeing rota management, conducting staff one-to-ones, and liaising with professionals to ensure seamless care delivery.
Team Leadership: Lead, train, mentor, and support a team of complex healthcare assistants.
Collaboration: Work closely with other professionals and stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to care.
Taking direction from the Nurse Manager in ensuring clinical practices are followed, providing guidance and support on medical and health-related issues.
