Jones Whyte Law Ltd has an exceptional opportunity for 2 Solicitors to join our busy Immigration Team. We are looking to recruit driven, knowledgeable and pro-active Solicitors to join our team based in Glasgow.

As an Immigration Solicitor, you will be working with a team of professionals who have a range of skills and expertise. The team comprises Associates and Solicitors as well as benefitting from the support of a highly experienced Legal Secretary and Legal Assistant. The work is varied, with case types across the spectrum of immigration casework.

Candidates should be a strong team player with excellent communication and technical skills. We work closely with clients, experts & counsel as required and act for clients in courts across Scotland.

Candidates are also required to have an in-depth understanding of the appropriate legal procedures and regulations with a proven track record of providing comprehensive legal advice and delivering successful outcomes for clients.

Experience in dealing with Asylum and immigration cases is essential.

The day to day role within this growing team involves managing a caseload of immigration and asylum matters. Reporting to the Head of Department, you will manage your own caseload and offer support and guidance to others in the team. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual with a positive attitude and flexible approach towards the implementation of new processes.

The Successful Candidate will be:

  • Managing own caseload of asylum and immigration matters
  • Attending Immigration Tribunal and Court of Session hearings
  • Corresponding with clients, other solicitors, interpreters as well as Counsel and experts where appropriate
  • Providing guidance and support to others within the department
  • Supporting business development within the department
  • Working as part of a team to ensure the best results for our clients

Requirements:

  • All levels of PQE considered
  • Experience in pursing all types of asylum and immigration matters from start to finish
  • Good knowledge of SLAB requirements
  • Excellent relationship and client handling skills
  • Strong work ethic and team player
  • Strong communication and organisation skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Positive outlook
