An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Electronics Engineer - DFMEA (Contractor) to join the Electronics – Controls and Software department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment. The purpose of the role is to deliver full lifecycle electronics prototype and product development for complex safety related projects across Battery Management Systems and Vehicle Control Modules, in support of Fortescue WAE’s strategic electrification & decarbonisation projects.
Job role:
- Conduct DFMEA analyses for new and existing hardware designs to identify potential failure modes, effects, and root causes.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, quality, and reliability engineering to integrate DFMEA into the product development process.
- Develop and maintain DFMEA documentation including failure mode identification, severity, occurrence, and detection rankings.
- Lead DFMEA review meetings with relevant stakeholders to ensure thorough analysis and alignment on mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with design engineers to implement design changes and improvements based on DFMEA findings.
- Perform risk assessments and validation tests to verify the effectiveness of DFMEA-driven design changes.
- Provide expertise and guidance on DFMEA best practices to engineering teams, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and reliability engineering.
- Demonstrating positivity, enthusiasm and flexibility when managing a workload across projects
You’ll have:
- An engineering qualification (e.g. Degree) in Electronic Engineering or similar subject, or equivalent training and experience within an engineering design environment.
- Previous DFMEA experience.
- Full lifecycle experience of complex electronic systems across both hardware and firmware development.
- Full lifecycle product development experience in a rigorously controlled sector such as Automotive/Aerospace/Defence is desirable.
