We are working with a leading organisation in the media and live events sector seeking to hire an experienced Senior Legal Counsel on a 12-month fixed-term contract (ideal start-date would be before March 2025). This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-paced organization renowned for delivering high-profile, large-scale events globally.

The Role:

As Senior Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in providing legal support across the business, with a primary focus on live events and commercial matters. This position will suit a commercially minded lawyer with a proven track record of advising on complex contracts in the media, entertainment, or events sectors. Sitting as part of a larger, collegial legal team, you will report directly to the General Counsel and collaborate closely with senior stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements, including event production contracts, sponsorship deals, venue agreements, supplier arrangements, and talent contracts.
  • Providing legal support and guidance throughout the lifecycle of live events, from planning and procurement to execution and post-event matters.
  • Advising on and mitigating risks associated with the delivery of high-profile events, ensuring compliance with local and international laws and regulations.
  • Supporting ad-hoc legal needs across the business, including IP licensing, marketing and promotional activities, and procurement.
  • Collaborating with the wider legal team to drive process improvements, manage external counsel, and develop internal templates and policies.
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, acting as a trusted advisor to the business.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor with 8+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE) , ideally gained in a reputable law firm and/or in-house role within the media, entertainment, or events sectors.
  • Strong commercial contracts expertise, with experience managing legal aspects of large-scale live events being highly desirable.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic and solutions-focused approach.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and resilience under pressure.
  • A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
