Principal Mechanical Engineer - Building Services Principal Mechanical Engineer – Building Services
One of the largest, most respected engineering, design and project delivery consultancies are currently looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer with a background in Building Services to join their team in their Glasgow offices.
This role will cover varying sectors but expertise from working within Defence, Commercial, Residential, Education or Transportation would be very beneficial for the role. Candidates for this role will be required to be client-facing as well as involved in the day-to-day design and management of projects.
Ensuring an understanding of project briefs.
Design and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems - heating, cooling, ventilation, controls, etc.
Carry out (and managing of others), in the production of detailed calculations using industry standard digital tools inc. Excel, IES, Hevacomp, in-house developed tools, etc.
Collaborate with our BIM team to prepare models and drawings, with a working understanding of Autodesk Revit.
Representing the company at meetings with clients and contractors.
Site surveys, inspections and monitor site works.
Report and technical note writing.
Adherence to all quality, environmental & governance processes.
Managing elements of project delivery and an understanding of budget costings.
Reviewing progress, including reporting any anomalies and changes of scope to the project lead.
Assist with technical development of junior staff.
Educated to Degree level, or equivalent, in Building Services Engineering/Mechanical Engineering or related subjects.
Proven use of digital tools including IES thermal modelling, Hevacomp, NBS and Microsoft packages.
Previous knowledge of energy and carbon related data capture and analytics.
Prior experience of working within a design consultancy and/or working withing a contractor design environment is essential to the role.
Good report writing, experience of making presentations and attending meetings with clients is essential.
Comfortable with working to deadlines and within budgets as agreed during project briefings.
