Your Mission:
As a Principal Engineer in our Nuclear Safety Regulation & Interface (NSRI) team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with nuclear safety regulations. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
Lead with Expertise: Provide independent advice on Nuclear Site Licences, Authorisations, and Environmental Permits to ensure our teams meet statutory and contractual obligations.
Champion Safety: Guide the development of compliant business-wide standards and processes, ensuring nuclear and radiation safety principles are at the forefront.
Influence Leaders: Collaborate with leaders and managers to navigate key nuclear legislation, enabling the successful delivery of our complex Submarine platform.
Build Bridges: Act as the main point of contact between our business and external regulatory authorities (ONR, DNSR & EA) as well as industry partners (MoD).
Mentor the Future: Develop and support less senior members of the NSRI team, fostering growth and expertise.
Your Skills and Experience:
Essential:
Experience in the Nuclear or highly regulated industry and familiarity with the regulatory framework.
Strong technical writing skills and the ability to craft persuasive arguments.
Proven experience providing technical advice to stakeholders at various levels.
Desirable:
A degree in Engineering or a relevant Science discipline.
Professional membership of a recognized institution (or eligibility).
Knowledge of nuclear safety cases and license conditions.

About the NSRI Team:
As a Principal Engineer, you will lead a small specialist team dedicated to providing expert advice on nuclear site licensing and environmental permitting. You’ll manage compliance arrangements and ensure effective operational experience feedback systems are in place. We also offer relocation support packages for eligible candidates across all Submarines roles.
