As an API Integration Specialist, you will play a crucial role in our Professional Services team, responsible for designing seamless integrations between Brightflag’s application and customers’ systems through APIs. You will collaborate closely both with internal teams and our customers to ensure integrations meet requirements and bring value to Brightflag’s customers. You will get the opportunity to work with customers in different industries with a wide variety of technical infrastructure and systems. To be successful in this role you’ll have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of APIs and integration protocols.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Design and document robust API integrations to facilitate data exchange and communication between Brightflag and diverse applications including but not limited to, Accounts Payable, Document Management and Matter Management systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including developers, Implementation Managers and product owners, to gather requirements and understand system architectures.
  • Review customers’ data architectures to determine correct mapping of data between Brightflag and external systems
  • Create detailed specifications and documentation for APIs, including endpoint definitions, request/response formats, authentication mechanisms, and error handling procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to development teams during the implementation phase, ensuring adherence to agreed requirements
  • Create test strategies to validate integrations and configure appropriate test data
  • Conduct thorough testing of integrations to identify issues related to data accuracy, performance, and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and debug integration problems, working closely with development teams and customer teams as needed.
  • Provide training and support to internal teams and external partners on API usage, integration processes, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance integration processes, tools, and frameworks.
  • Develop custom code and scripts to support complex integration scenarios and data mappings.
Skills & Experience

To be successful in the role, you need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analysis or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience (2-3 years) in designing and documenting APIs and integration solutions, in a customer facing environment
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, SOAP, JSON, XML, and other web services protocols.
  • Experience of interaction with Accounts Payable systems (e.g. Oracle, Netsuite, Coupa, SAP, etc)
  • Experience with integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, Apache Camel) and API management tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI, Swagger).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and vice versa. 
  • Manage projects effectively, prioritising tasks, handling multiple projects simultaneously, and meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain a customer-centric approach throughout the integration process, ensuring customer satisfaction.
