Job Description This position is well-suited for an Electronics Engineer seeking to contribute to new design initiatives and advance their professional journey. As a valuable member of a diverse team, you will play a key role in designing solutions for the Electronics component of a varied range of Electronic Equipment. Your responsibilities will span from new designs to overseeing the entire product lifecycle. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in facilitating the transition to manufacturing and offering ad-hoc electronics support for systems currently in operation. Key Responsibilities as a Senior Electronics Engineer:

  • Interpret system requirements and adeptly decompose and cascade them into hardware requirements.
  • Execute Electronics and/or Firmware development tasks and reviews, encompassing the entire system, sub-system, and individual board design/coding.
  • Hold a level of technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle's engineering activities.
  • Support team planning and estimation endeavours during the initiation of new projects.
  • Serve as the Project Engineering Lead (PEL) and/or Work Package Manager (WPM).
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to junior Engineers.
  • Collaborate with customers and suppliers as deemed necessary.
  • Supervise initial test and integration processes, including formal testing.
Personal attributes and skills
  • Extensive experience throughout the entire project lifecycle as an electronics/firmware engineer, spanning bids and proposals to in-service support, with a preference for experience within the defence sector.
  • Hands-on expertise in designing intricate systems that involve multiple electronics disciplines, demonstrating a profound understanding of associated challenges and common pitfalls.
  • Proficient in Design for EMC, Electrical Safety, and Signal Integrity, encompassing schematic and PCB layout considerations.
  • Exposure to diverse branches of electronics, including power, high-speed digital, analogue, RF, and Sonar.
  • Competent in Design for Manufacture, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of the entire project life cycle.
  • Proven capabilities in prototyping, testing, and verifying electronic subsystems at PCB, unit, and sub-system levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of component selection, with an understanding of associated issues such as obsolescence and environmental considerations (REACH, RoHS, etc.).
  • Proficient use of standard office tools and familiarity with engineering tools, including ERPs and Configuration Management tools
