Application Support Engineer – Java

Location: Cheltenham | Innovation Consultancy | Hybrid Work Environment

This is an exciting opportunity for an Application Support Engineer with a strong Java background to join a leading innovation consultancy. You’ll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering high-quality solutions for clients across various industries, focusing on enhancing application performance and user experience.

The Role

In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support for applications, diagnosing and resolving issues, and ensuring seamless operation of software solutions. You will collaborate closely with development teams to improve application functionality and performance while maintaining a strong commitment to client satisfaction.

Location & Flexibility

  • Location: Cheltenham-based with a flexible hybrid working model
  • On-site Requirements: 1-2 days per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert support for Java applications, addressing and resolving technical issues promptly
  • Collaborate with development teams to identify and implement enhancements to applications
  • Conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues and improve system reliability
  • Monitor application performance and implement optimizations to enhance user experience
  • Document support processes and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives within the team
  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients, ensuring timely and effective communication regarding application performance

Your Profile

  • Proven experience in application support with a strong focus on Java technologies
  • Solid understanding of software development processes and methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience in a consultancy environment is a plus, along with familiarity with agile practices
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred
