The UCL Division of Psychiatry, located within the Faculty of Brain Sciences, is a world-renowned centre of excellence in mental health research. About the role

The post-holder will form an integral part of the Division’s professional services team and will oversee all day-to-day operational aspects of the Division’s activities, working closely with the Division Manager (DM) and providing cover in their absence.

The post-holder will be proactive in ensuring delivery of efficient and effective services supporting all aspects of the Division’s day-to-day operations, teaching, research and enterprise activities, liaising with Faculty, School and UCL teams as appropriate. This includes assisting in managing the Division’s budget, overseeing the approval of research grants and contract proposals, recruitment of staff and students, delivery of teaching and learning support, and management of space, facilities and other resources in line with UCL policies and procedures and as directed by the Division Manager.

The post-holder will support the Division Manager in developing and implementing strategic plans, monitoring the performance of the Division and promoting good working practices throughout the Division.

This post is offered on a hybrid basis. The post holder will be expected to work onsite 3 days per week and can work remotely for 2 days per week.

We’re looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our friendly and supportive team of Professional Services staff. You will be working with and across a varied and significant number of colleagues in and outside the Division.

You must have:

  • a proven track record in administration and management within a research-intensive HEI, and a clear understanding of key factors affecting the sector,
  • experience of running an operational unit in a large organisation or are educated to degree level with substantial relevant experience,
  • demonstrable experience of effective financial planning and budgetary management and use of management information and performance tools,
  • experience of leading change management, influencing and problem solving.
  • team leadership and motivational skills with a sound understanding and enjoyment of line management and development of staff.
