What you'll be doing As a NRSWA Compliance Officer, you will work as part of a responsive and resilient team capable of fulfilling a wide range of services including reviewing and granting permits to utility companies and to BBLP for their own works on the highway, coordinating road works, processing road closure applications, reducing avoidable congestion, monitoring performance of those working on the highway, issuing financial penalties such as overrun charges and fixed penalty notices, liaising with our Streetworks Inspectors and responding to inquiries from Herefordshire Council and members of the public, and more. The role will require the daily use of professional judgement working with the support of senior team members and within the framework of the Permit legislation and NRSWA to ensure that the Council provides an effective traffic management and street works management service. Who we're looking for The Individual • Good communication and interpersonal skills, verbal and written, with ability to deal with difficult or confrontational situations.

  • Flexible and adaptable and able to respond positively to changing circumstances.
  • Able to work on their own initiative and be able to schedule & prioritise workload.
  • High level of resilience, attention to detail, emotional intelligence and able to keep
calm under pressure. • A person whose attitudes, conduct and demeanour reflects Balfour Beatty values and who can effectively represent and promote the reputation of the company. Technical Competences • Familiarity with relevant aspects of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, Traffic Management Act 2004 and associated legislation would be beneficial although not essential as training and support will be provided. • Good knowledge of Herefordshire’s highway network and an understanding of the impact of Streetworks on the Councils Network Management Duty.
  • GCSE (A to C level) or equivalent including English and Maths.
  • Good working level of computer literacy and knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel and
PowerPoint (or equivalent packages). • A full driving licence would be beneficial.
