About The Role Please read the information in this job post thoroughly to understand exactly what is expected of potential candidates. Due to internal promotion we have an opportunity for an RGN to join our hospital Baldock Manor, on a fixed term contract basis. The role of the Practice Nurse is to work as an effective member of the Multi-Disciplinary team, promote the best interests of the patients and carers and ensure that prescribed nursing care is effectively implemented. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe care environment, exercise professional accountability and utilise your professional skills, knowledge and expertise in changing environments within the scope of professional practice. Hours: 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Rate: £22.93 per hour Main responsibilities of the role will include: Carrying out physical examinations and investigatory procedures (triage) Chronic health conditions management; Venepuncture Requesting pathology tests ECGs New patient medicals/urinalysis Assist and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff; Ear Syringing Removal of sutures and wound management Person specification Essential skills: Knowledge of management of patients with long-term conditions Knowledge of physical health issues Practice of medical emergency scenarios Clinical leadership skills Clinical skills – immunisation and vaccination, diabetes, epilepsy, stoma care wound care Change-management skills and ability to support patients to change lifestyle Communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to communicate difficult messages to patients and families Negotiation and conflict management skills IT skills Minimum 3 years post registration experience Up to date NMC registration Experience in nurse-led management of long-term conditions Experience in implementing protocols and clinical guidelines Experience in quality initiatives such as clinical benchmarking Audit skills Nursing diploma/degree Clinical supervision experience Self-directed Highly motivated Enthusiasm Team player Ability to work across boundaries Treat others with dignity and respect About Us Baldock Manor Hospital is a thriving service. Over recent years Baldock Manor has undertaken extensive development work to become the hospital it is today. We have three wards; an 8 bedded female PICU service, an older working age men’s 14 bed acute/High dependency unit typically for gentlemen over the age of 45/50 and a similar 10 bedded service for older working age/older age ladies. We are currently opening a fourth 8 bedded PICU service. Our focus is recovery for our patients with quality care and measurable outcomes at the centre of all we do. Baldock Manor boasts a full MDT with Nursing, Psychiatry, Psychology and Occupational Therapy practitioners on site as well as a very able team of Senior support workers, support works, Therapies assistants and more. Being a smaller hospital gives us the opportunity to coach and mentor our team as well as giving real ability for individuals to take a role in service design and bring their innovative ideas to the fore.
