We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and flexible individual, with a strong focus on training and education. As the Clinical Educator you will continue to develop and drive forward a robust education programme for the nursing workforce.

In this post you will help to shape the nursing and healthcare staff of the future through the provision of high-quality education and learning opportunities and leadership.

This post is across all the areas within Paediatrics which include inpatient ward, HDU, clinic, daycase, assessment unit, community, specialist nurses and the emergency department.

You will develop, introduce and monitor a range of programmes relating to Paediatrics nursing practice, in order to maintain standards of professional practice, and enhance standards of care. Working in collaboration with the ward mangers within paediatrics to lead to co-ordinate, supervise and direct activity in all care settings, supporting staff in the delivery of high standards of care.

Main duties of the job

You will provide clinical leadership and direction to the team acting as a role model and advocate for patients. You will assess, plan, and implement care providing advice and maintaining associated records.

You will support the development of clinical competence across the workforce in line with agreed directorate and Trust educational development strategies and priorities. This would include constructing and implementing key projects relating to training, education and development of staff.

You will Manage the training and development databases locally and those required by the Trust. Produce reports and audits as part of the Clinical Governance initiative.

You will beresponsible for ensuring the Paediatric team are adequately supported and developed to deliver excellent care with compassion

Ensure a high standard of Nursing care is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patients' needs in accordance with agreed local and National standards and evidence based guidelines

Support and develop the multidisciplinary team ensuring that high stands of education and training are achieved.

Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care

Person Specification

Qualifications & Education

Essential


  • NMC Registered Children's Nurse
  • Degree in Nursing /willing to work towards
  • NMC recognised Mentorship qualification
  • Recognised teaching qualification
  • 5 years minimum post nursing qualification experience
  • Recent acute nursing experience with clinical skills competence
  • APLS

Desirable


  • Leadership training /qualification
  • Cascade training for mandatory requirements.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential


  • Evidence of sound knowledge base in relation to nursing care and national guidance and recommendations
  • Knowledge of risk management and clinical governance and the relevance to practice
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of ethical issues
  • Experience of mentorship and ability to identify learning and development needs
  • Evidence of calculating medications

Desirable


  • Evidence of multi-agency working
  • Knowledge and experience of audit
  • Knowledge and experience of research and development
