Reed Recruitment is currently hiring on behalf of our esteemed client in the West Lothian area for an experienced Estimator. This role is integral to supporting a growing business unit, preparing, and producing accurate cost estimates from the receipt of Tender enquiry to Tender Settlement stage, and achieving the Company’s Business Plan targets.
Deliver the Estimating process to ensure work is undertaken to commercial and qualitative performance standards in a timely manner.
Follow Company policies and procedures for the business.
Provide estimating advice and commercial support to the Bid team, Regeneration and business wide as appropriate.
Take ownership of the timely processing of sub-contractor enquiries and liaise with the business buying teams/supply chain team as appropriate.
Evaluate/negotiate sub-contractor’s quotations and produce competitive costs for packages.
Review supply chain performance with divisional managers and address discrepancies.
Identify and account for tender risks and review lost tenders for improvement opportunities.
Develop and implement the use of data spreadsheets and databases for accurate cost estimates.
Implement a consistent internal tender settlement/reconciliation report and handover process.
Liaise regularly with the Bid Manager and Senior Management teams.
Work closely with Commercial teams on the CVR process and post-project commercial review/reconciliation.
Proven experience as an Estimator for a main contractor in the construction industry.
Previous experience in the Energy Services or Social Housing sectors is ideal.
Knowledge of JCT Form of Contract, schedules of rates, specifications and drawings, bills of quantities, cost value reconciliation, and frameworks.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Packages, particularly Excel and Word.
Minimum of grade C in Mathematics and English or equivalent qualification
Building-related degree.
