The Swan Districts Football Club is a well-connected and community engaged football club that improves social outcomes and sense of wellbeing in our community. From our home at Steel Blue Oval in Bassendean, we have provided an inclusive meeting place for our community since 1934 and this has been extended through our Perth and Pilbara community programs.

The Marketing Coordinator role is a vital part of our organisation that connects our community operations, football, member and game day experience teams.

You will be responsible for managing our social media platforms and websites, as well as creating new print and online content for both football and community, while also dealing directly with our members in regard to membership enquiries and merchandise sales. Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate experience in a similar environment, and while it will help to have had experience in sport, it isn’t essential.

Weekend and some evening work is required supporting our club and member events, as well as game day throughout the WAFL and WAFL Women’s seasons. We don’t mind if you are not a Swans fan, because once you understand the broader role that we play in the community beyond football, you will soon become one. While our organisation is growing, we still operate in small teams, so you must be prepared to roll your sleeves up and help when necessary.

Job Description

  • Monitoring, management and measurement of the club’s websites and club social media pages.
  • Developing unique and engaging content, including written, photographic and video for promotion on club digital platforms including website social media platforms and e-newsletters.
  • Assisting in creating and measuring growth strategies including fan acquisition and fan conversion strategies.
  • Assisting with the development and delivery of membership strategies.
  • Providing match day and event support as required.
  • Monitoring and maintaining office supplies where required.
  • Overseeing the club’s merchandise strategy including purchasing, production, promotion and sales.
  • Assisting in the preparation of financial records including stock counts pertaining to merchandise on a monthly basis.
  • Assisting manage the front reception and answer incoming phone calls.
  • Engaging with local media maintaining a relationship to enhance visibility and community engagement.
  • Providing assistance to the football department, including booking flights for players and scheduling interviews and promotional activities between players and the media.
  • Assisting with ordering and processing WAFL and WAFLW pre-season training gear and player registrations.
  • Assisting in managing club podcasts including editing, promotions and reporting.
  • Assisting in the development and creation of key club marketing collateral, media and graphics.
  • Supporting the club’s purpose, vision, values and Code of Conduct.
  • Willingness to ‘get stuck in” when and where required.

This role is a full-time position, but is required to have flexible working hours, including weekend work.
