They now seek an Internal Sales Engineer / Account Manager to maintain existing UK customer relationships and follow up on incoming inquiries. About The Role Based from my client's office, with daily support from a team of technical and commercial industry experts, you will be responsible for:
  • Liaising with both industrial and academic customers across the UK.
  • Working on customer projects with a typical gestation period from 1 to 3 months.
  • Managing a portfolio of smaller customers and also handling and processing incoming inquiries from around 15-20 new and existing customers per week.
  • Qualifying incoming inquiries to establish if the business can offer a suitable solution.
  • Passing larger projects to the external sales team.
  • Forging solid relationships with key decision-makers including Professors, Engineering Managers, Project Engineers, and Design Engineers.
  • Understanding customer project needs and providing guidance and input on the best-proposed solution.
  • Handling both technical and commercial inquiries from your customer base.
  • Maintaining, updating, and administering the CRM database.
My client would encourage the opportunity to spend some time in the field with the external sales engineers, allowing you to build your client-facing skills and also your understanding of customer applications. About You You will ideally possess a technical education within an Engineering or Scientific discipline such as mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry or affiliated. Alongside your academic flair, you must possess great communication skills and enjoy speaking with clients in both academia and industry. Previous experience in customer interaction roles such as sales, account management, product specialist, and applications engineering would be highly advantageous but not essential should somebody demonstrate the aptitude to learn. The salary offered will reflect the experience you bring to the role. Other key skills include:
  • Mouldable with the desire to develop and grow with the business.
  • Team player who enjoys engaging with customers.
  • Ability to fit into an environment where collaboration and idea-sharing are encouraged.
  • Methodical, structured and process driven.
  • Good attention to detail.
