Liverpool, United Kingdom Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term full time Band 7 Nutrition Support Dietitian at the Aintree site of Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT). This post would ideally suit Dietitians currently working at band 7 level or Band 6 Dietitians, with relevant experience, wanting to gain experience working in a more senior role.

The post is to provide maternity cover and the successful applicant will be required to manage patients with complex nutritional needs, primarily within the surgical wards, although there will be a requirement to see patients on outlying wards who require specialist input with nutritional management, such as patients with eating disorders and gastroparesis.

A good working knowledge of Parenteral Nutrition is essential as is the ability to manage patients with complex nutritional issues such as high output stomas and gastrointestinal fistulas.

You will work closely with the Medically led Nutrition Support Team and be supported with clinical supervision from the Band 8a Advanced Clinical Practitioner Dietitian in the Nutrition Team.

You will work with, and clinically supervise, a Band 6 Dietitian in surgery and will support the training of Graduate Dietitians on rotation. There is opportunity for Dietetic input into ward rounds, MDTs and service development within the Nutrition and Dietetic Teams.
Previous clinical experience nutrition support in the acute setting is essential, preferably with experience working in surgical and/ or gastroenterology settings. As a Nutrition Support Dietitian, your role involves working closely with Dietitians across the Trust, Community Dietitians and other agencies. You will also be part of a friendly and collaborative Dietetic Team across LUHFT with access to regular support via Band 7 peer support meetings.
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
