Consultant Psychiatrist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

We are seeking skilled and compassionate individuals to join the new NHS Children and Young People's Gender Service (London) in the role of Consultant Psychiatrist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Post holders will provide consultant psychiatrist leadership and expertise for the NHS Children and Young People's Gender Service, as part of the multidisciplinary team.
Successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of safety and quality in the service. They will have been involved in service improvement and design and be able to work objectively in a service with high level of external scrutiny, whilst focusing on delivering the best care for children and young people, aligned to the new service specification.
The post holder will provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to junior staff and be a source of clinical expertise to the multi-disciplinary team. In line with recommendations from the ongoing Cass Review, we are recruiting to part time sessions, in order for staff to maintain a broad clinical perspective by working across related services within other secondary and tertiary centres. Have accountability for the delivery of high quality and safe care, with the Clinical Director and Clinical Lead for the Children and Young People's Gender Service (London).
Liaise with other health professionals and social care teams as necessary to support appropriate care for patients.
Following the recommendations of The Cass Review Interim Report, two new nationally networked services led by specialist children's tertiary care providers are being established. The Southern Hub, based in London, is delivered by a partnership of Evelina London Children's Hospital (part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust), Great Ormond Street Hospital and the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
The Northern Hub is delivered by a partnership of Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust). This role is based in the Southern Hub.

Completion of Higher Psychiatric Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or being within 6 months of achieving CCT accreditation Or Equivalent training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CESR issued by PMETB)
Experience of working with young people in mental health community settings
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
