Leadership
  • Driveresults through aligning the team with business strategy and goals,establishing clear standards of engineering excellence, and settingclear direction and accountabilities through performance managementwhilst providing balanced feedback at the most critical times tomaintain momentum and a strong sense of ownership.
  • Lead andcontribute to change programmes, inspiring the team to embrace changeas a critical enabler to success.
  • Conduct workforce planningover short term and long-term time horizons to effectively manageresource within the team.
  • Succession plan for key roles andmanage talent to achieve their full potential e.g. through ourEngineering Development programs.
  • Inspire growth throughcareer conversations, developing talent and ensuring the team has theskills and experiences to deliver, develop and progress interestingcareers within JM. Mentoring/coaching team members as required.
  • Proactively develop individuals and teams, identify trainingneeds and enable team members access to relevant training through theEngineering Academy or other sources.
People & Culture
  • Recruit and develop teams of permanent andcontingent engineering talent.
  • Build a high performing, agileteam which is seen as a talent engine where people gain career andpersonal development opportunities and experience.
  • Set thestandard for competencies and capabilities required for individual andteam effectiveness.
  • Monitor and assess the trainingrequirements of new starters and current engineering teams. Developingtraining programs to address training needs.
  • Identifytraining themes to address and initiate the preparation andpresentation of courses with the objective of building a library oftraining material (recorded presentation, how-to guides, interactivetraining tools, etc.) that support the engineering function.
Engineering Ways of Working
  • Create andmaintain new and existing procedures to make our ways of working asefficient as possible.
  • Identify improvements to Engineeringtools and methodologies, implementing improvement programs asrequired.
  • Approve engineering documentation as required.
Requirements for the role:
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Passion for developing engineering talent.
  • Understanding of technology development, engineering andlicencing.
  • Member or Fellow of a recognised ProfessionalInstitution.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal andwritten, including the ability to explain technical concepts to anon-technical audience.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Innovative approach to engineering execution.
