Avidity Science are looking for a new Field Service Engineer to join our Service team in the UK. As a field service engineer you will be required to give our clients the best quality service. This role is focused on the Healthcare and Scientific Research market. You'll have experience supporting customers with the installation and maintenance of their laboratory equipment and be interested in learning to support other types of systems.
A salary in the range of £32,000 to £38,000 is available, plus a discretionary bonus scheme and a great selection of benefits (see below). You will need to have a full driving license and existing right to work in the UK to be successful.
A flexible approach to customers’ needs and working hours is required in this role and may include the need for you to work some weekends and during some public holidays. You will also be included on a rota to provide out of hours cover and rapid response to our clients approximately one week in six once training is complete.
This is a field-based role mainly focussed on the North East and North West area. At times you may be expected to travel to into York, Preston and Newcastle as well as elsewhere across the region. At times there may be a need to travel to customer sites outside of this area depending on your work schedule. A car will be provided along with necessary tools and IT equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Field Service Manager, your missions will consist of:
Carry out on-site preventive maintenance visits and electrical / mechanical fault finding of equipment including our range of water treatment and other laboratory systems, repairs and emergency response visits
Carry out commissioning and installation work on laboratory equipment (such as Lab water products, CO2 Incubators, autoclaves and air flow cabinets) and provide after-sales technical and commercial support.
Work from technical documents (installation manuals, maintenance manuals, etc.)
Complete required service documentation to the required level. Complete call reports.
Work within a team to provide best customer experience, communicate with our Service Office team daily
Maintain car stock inventory of spare parts
Following Health and Safety Procedures
Perform other duties as assigned
We’re keen to bring new people and ideas into the team; some or all of the following could be expected of you:
NVQ or higher in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering or similar, or proven experience.
A full UK driving license is required.
Experience of working as a Service Engineer, Test Engineer or in a field based technical support role is essential.
Working knowledge of electrical / mechanical equipment is essential
Experience with reverse-osmosis water systems and/or biosafety airflow cabinets a distinct advantage.
Knowledge of the Healthcare and Scientific market is desirable but not essential.
Good organisational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks.
Passionate about providing a first-class service to our customers. Willing to react to customer needs at short notice.
A professional and diligent approach to your work and communication with colleagues and customers. Able to work as part of a team and on your own.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels in a clear and concise manner.
A good level of IT competency; knowledge of PLC controls and Business CRMs.
Spoken French and German language skills are an advantage (as a team we also support customers outside of the UK)
