Job Title: Principal Engineer - Discipline Support (Combat Systems Sensors)

What you'll be doing:

  • Understanding the multiple programme demands for resource, supporting prioritisation decisions required to meet the programmes needs and the career development of individuals
  • Directly undertaking and supporting your disciplines resourcing activities across core, early careers and contingent hires, as well as other diverse strategies supporting resourcing
  • Ensuring the continued technical and professional development of Combat Systems Specialist Engineers including but not limited to Radar, Sonar and Visual sensors
  • Managing the Professional Institution relationships in conjunction with the People Capability Teams
  • Chairing meetings and workshops to develop, improve and sustain processes
  • Supporting delivery of governance (compliance) Combat Systems processes
  • Working with discipline stakeholders to establish a technology roadmap for this area
  • Supporting the transformation of the Engineering Function, developing the services we provide to the delivery teams
  • Interfacing with SMEs for your and other discipline teams and business functions (HR, Security, Site etc.) in support of your delivery teams

Your skills and experiences:

  • Degree qualified within an appropriate STEM engineering domain related discipline or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Chartered Engineer Status
  • Experience in complex integration programmes
  • Experience throughout the Engineering Lifecycle
  • Significant design experience in one or more engineering disciplines within the Combat Systems Sensors banner
  • Awareness of Engineering capability

The Combat Sensors team:

As a Principal Engineer- Discipline Support (Combat Systems Sensors), you will work closely with the delivery teams to understand their challenges around people, process, toolsets, technology, information management and specialist facilities. You will solve problems, create and deliver on action plans. Interface with Engineering Function Capability teams to ensure timely input to integrated business plans via the Discipline Lead. Report status of delivery of such a plan and enable onward reporting to Submarines, Maritime and Corporate functional reviews, to ensure the engineering capability within your disciplines are fit to deliver today and in the future.
