Job Summary

Senior AWS Cloud Engineer is required for exciting and innovative Sports betting Hedge fund based in Leeds, Yorkshire. The successful senior AWS cloud engineer will be working closely with the development team and others to build a streamlined, self-service infrastructure that improves the development lifecycle. You will take ownership of company’s AWS infrastructure, ensuring it’s secure, efficient, and cost-effective. You'll also be responsible for overseeing network functionality, upgrades, and configurations across our cloud infrastructure to ensure peak performance. Security will be another priority, with responsibilities including data backup, user authorisation, and firewall management to protect our systems and data.

As Senior AWS Cloud Engineer you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years experience designing, building, and maintaining solutions in AWS
  • Excellent networking skills (TCP/IP, VPC, Subnets, Security groups etc)
  • Experience Strong background in Linux/UNIX administration (Ubuntu, bash)
  • Developing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
  • Familiar with containers and orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS, Docker)
  • Knowledge of one or more scripting languages (Python)
  • Knowledge of security best practice and experience designing secure solutions

Desired but not essential:

  • Knowledge of Java, especially serialisation technologies
  • Knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB/Atlas
  • Knowledge of ActiveMQ, Kafka and event driven architecture
  • Knowledge of cloud monitoring and alerting services and capabilities (Prometheus, Grafana, Cloudwatch)
  • Knowledge of code repositories, CI/CD concepts and tools (TeamCity, Bitbucket, Nexus)
  • Low level networking knowledge and experience with latency/TCP optimisation techniques
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Puppet and Ansible
  • Experience migrating and improving existing legacy cloud infrastructure
