Head of Engineering (Founding Team) London / Remote | Full-time | Early-stage startup Bibex is building the global IP discovery platform for publishing, film/TV and beyond. We use AI to surface high-potential stories from fragmented global markets, connecting them with scouts, publishers, studios and producers. We're backed by experienced founders (Footnote Press, Midnite, Gamerbase) and are finalising our first funding round. Now we're looking for a Head of Engineering to join our founding team. The Role This is a hands-on, build-from-scratch position. You will take over as technical lead on our prototype development, working closely with the founders to shape the platform architecture and product roadmap. In the early stages, you'll need to be an all-rounder, spanning backend, frontend and AI/ML development, until we expand with specialist hires post-funding. You'll be working on: Designing and building our prototype platform Developing workflows to extract and structure book/IP metadata from catalogues and databases Implementing early-stage AI features (e.g. multilingual vectorisation, search, taste-matching) using third-party and custom models Establishing our engineering culture, coding standards and technical direction Growing and leading a team of engineers and data scientists as we scale About You Full-stack engineering background, comfortable across frontend and backend Familiar with modern JS/TS frameworks (Next.js, React, Node.js) and cloud (AWS or similar) Experience with AI/ML development (can leverage APIs/libraries, not afraid to get hands-on) Experience in early-stage/startup environments, comfortable with ambiguity and iteration Strong problem-solver who enjoys turning ideas into working prototypes Leadership mindset: ready to scale from "builder" to "team lead" Ideally London-based, with the right to work in the UK What We Offer Founding team role with significant influence on product and tech direction Competitive salary (£70k initially) + equity options Opportunity to grow with the company as we scale from prototype to platform A mission-driven environment: shaping the future of global storytelling and IP discovery If you're excited to build from the ground up and want to be part of a team unlocking the world's untold stories, we'd love to hear from you.
