Project Engineer Roles

The Project Engineer roles are required for delivery and Lot 2 of the Optel Network Refresh Programme to act as technical interface with the Magdalene (Lot 2) project delivery teams. This role will ensure that Supplier delivery teams are delivering agreed outcomes that are compliant with the applicable practices, policies, performance standards, and specifications pertaining to working in an operational environment.

Section 3 – Key Accountabilities

Lead the scheme team and actively manage key stakeholders to ensure their timely input and agreement to the selection, development and delivery of investments, pursuant to timely approvals. Develop the least cost, optimal, efficient and safe solution in line with CDM Regulations and SHESQ considerations. Document all residual design issues, CDM issues, hazards and risks. Enact the role of Client's Delegated Representative and where appropriate and support Principal Designer under CDM Regulations. Maintain full authorisation per client procedures to carry out duties. Ensure that core data for the site activities is maintained to the highest levels of quality and accuracy. Take on board lessons learnt from completed and in-flight investments, including lessons from analysis of compensation events into early investment phases so that the engineered solutions deliver the essential scope at optimal cost. Ensure that system outage and resource requests are submitted for portfolio of projects in a timely manner to enable optimised plan build.

Section 4 – Knowledge, Experience and Technical Know How

Interpersonal, Supervisory or Management:
- A stakeholder-centric approach to delivering a high-quality output.
- Proficient understanding and demonstrable working knowledge of business processes and governance.
- Demonstrable experience of leading cross functional teams.
- Demonstrable experience of stakeholder management.
- Proficient business writing and communication skills.

Technical or Specialist:
- Proficient understanding and demonstrable working knowledge of key business processes and project management governance.
- Demonstrable technical knowledge or ability to gain understanding of the Optel Telecommunication System in electricity transmission/distribution networks.
- Understanding of RIIO mechanisms and the way that client delivers revenue under the regulatory framework.
- Proficient knowledge of the application of CDM, Safety and Environmental Regulations.
- Proficient project management skills including management of time, cost, safety and risk.

Essential:
- Experience in managing internal / external stakeholder relationships.
- CDM, Health & Safety and Environmental legislation proficiency.

Desirable:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent desirable.
- Membership of IET / IAM leading to Chartered Status.
- Membership of a relevant professional body.
