Speech & Language Therapy Associate Practitioner

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Associate Practitioner to join the dynamic SLT service within Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work into the Darlington Community Learning Disabilities Team, based at Hundens Lane Resource Centre.
Main duties of the jobThe SLT service works with service users with a range with communication and chewing & swallowing difficulties. Duties of this post will include: making therapy resources and materials, carrying out communication and dysphagia screenings and reviews, updating personalised mealmats and communication passports, delivering one-to-one and group therapy (under the guidance of qualified therapists), assisting with delivering carer training packages, maintaining their own clinical records and carrying out administrative duties (e.g. taking telephone messages, allocating referrals, updating spreadsheets, preparing case note files, photocopying and filing).
About usThere will be access to regular one-to-one clinical supervision from a qualified therapist and the opportunity to attend trust wide SLT CPD meetings and training.
The post holder must be able to travel independently.
Job responsibilitiesPlease note that you are required to hold the Relevant NVQ Level 3 in care or equivalent or Foundation Degree in relevant subject.

Person Specification Qualifications- Foundation degree or equivalent in relevant subject
- Relevant NVQ Level 3 in care or equivalent
- Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
- NVQ Assessor
- Ability to communicate information (verbal and written) effectively in a manner appropriate to the individual and situation
- Extensive experience of working with adults with learning disabilities
- Experience of working as speech therapy assistant or associate practitioner
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
