A successful food manufacturing business, supplying major retailers and other customers. Extremely innovative with a long-term perspective, this business has benefitted from significant investment, underpinning growth and increased production volumes.
They are now seeking to appoint a Technical Manager to take in a customer facing role whilst managing the Quality and Technical team to maintain high food safety standards, whilst remaining compliant to all legislation and best practice.
The Role
- Work Monday to Friday (Days) as part of the site Management team, reporting to the Technical Director;
- Manage, motivate and coordinate the activities of an experienced team consisting of two direct reports and several other team members;
- Monitor and improve Quality and Technical systems to respond to increasing industry demands for technical excellence;
- Work closely with Customers, being the first point of contact, reacting to customer technical queries in a timely manner;
- The Technical Manager will review Food Safety and Quality Management systems and make improvements where required;
- Review and manage supplier approval procedures and ongoing validation for raw ingredients, packaging and equipment;
- Develop strong working relationships with internal departments including: Production, Operations, NPD, and Supply Chain;
- Prepare the site for Audits: Customer Audits, BRCGS, Kosher, Halal, Regulatory and Internal Audits;
- Organize Technical systems and Product and Process information to ensure customer queries can be answered seamlessly;
- The Technical Manager will manage the HACCP regime, COSHH and Hygiene team activities;
- Ensure safe Food is produced, managing Allergen Controls, Regulatory Compliance and the quality of Raw Materials and Finished Goods.
The Person
- This role would be ideal for a Food Industry Technical Manager or experienced Quality Manager looking to move up to a Technical Management position;
- The Technical Manager appointed must fit in with the company management style and culture which is relaxed, independent, friendly, and open;
- Have a really good manner with customers, able to host customers on site and be able to answer Customer questions in a non-technical way;
- At least 2 years UK experience working as a Technical Manager of Quality Manager within the Food Manufacturing sector;
- Able to lead by example and apply a hands-on management style;
- Inquisitive, open to attend training course and develop knowledge and experience. Keen to learn from the Technical Director;
- Hold a Degree / HND / HNC in a Food related or Science discipline.
Salary circa £53,000 pa to £60,000 pa depending on experience.
This role can be easily commuted to from the following areas: Carshalton, Croydon, Mitcham, New Malden, Morden, Sutton, Epsom, Thornton Heath, Surbiton, Beckenham, West Wickham, Purley, Coulsdon, Addington, Banstead, Penge, Eastfields, Norbury. Ref: 3535
