Reigate amp Banstead Surrey, United Kingdom Academics Ltd Full time €80 - €90

Learning Support Assistant - Aspiring Clinical or Educational Psychologist - Tadworth The School: The school is based near Tadworth, Surrey and provides support for primary and secondary aged pupils who have a wide range of needs associated with Autism. They are looking for a learning support assistant to join their team. All students that attend the school have a designated Education Health Care Plan (EHCP), which details their specific needs in terms of the care and support they will have access to. The needs of the students also include mental health, trauma, PDA and associated speech and language challenges. The aim of the school is to provide a safe haven and therapeutic approach that the students will not have access to in a mainstream setting. They are a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, so their practice reflects their high standards. If you're someone with aspirations and interest in clinical or educational psychology then this is an ideal opportunity for you. As a learning support assistant you will be working with a range of complex neuropsychological needs and challenging behaviours that will provide an ideal stepping-stone to further training and experience. Summary:

  • **Specialist school for students with Autism and associated learning and behavioural needs
  • **Some of the students can display challenging behaviour, which will need de-escalating. MAPA or Team Teach training would be a big advantage.
  • **Classes range from 6-8 in size with a focus on implementing effective communication techniques
  • **Sensory rooms, soft play and therapy rooms to provide designated areas for specialist support from a range of therapists including SALTs, Occupational therapists, psychologists and counsellors
  • **An Integrated Therapeutic Approach and extensive 1-1 support for every pupil
  • **Specialist communication methods such as Makaton, PECS and TEACCH
  • **A balanced, creative curriculum that focuses on preparation for 'life after school'
  • **The school likes to focus on LSAs who know their objectives and who would like to continue their journey to become specialists in their chosen field
  • **A psychology degree or specialist SEN training is highly desirable
  • **February 24 starts depending on your availability - £80 - 90 per day
  • **Competitive salaries for permanent roles of £20,000+
  • **Apply directly through this advert or call Ben Mason on (phone number removed) for more details
