An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Assistant Operational Service Manager (AOSM) within the Cancer and Haematology Clinical Board, based in Newcastle.

We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic person to join the clinical board management team, assisting with all operational management duties required within their area of responsibility, who will also be required to take the lead in specific delegated areas.

The Cancer and Haematology clinical board provides clinical services across the region to a population of circa 2 million, based at Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI), Northern Centre for Cancer Care (NCCC), Northern Centre for Cancer Care – North Cumbria (NCCCNC), West Cumberland Infirmary and community chemotherapy venues.

The successful applicant will focus primarily on operational management of regional non-surgical oncology services, working closely with the clinical director to ensure efficient and effective delivery of quality services to the patient population.

The post holder will provide project and managerial support encompassing a broad range of activities across non-surgical oncology services, for example:

· Ensuring patient pathways are as effective and timely as possible, liaising with clinical and administrative staff to ensure cancer waiting time standards are met

· To take a lead in specific delegated areas, for example leading on Quality Improvement (QI) projects to ensure that excellent quality of care is provided to patients

· Act as a key point of escalation and direct contact to approx 45 consultant oncologists, troubleshooting issues with the support of the clinical director

· Utilise data in line with required KPIs, including investigating variances, and leading on the development of remedial action plans

· Support with capacity and demand modelling for regional non-surgical oncology services

· Support the clinical board management team in the delivery of cost improvement plans (CIP)
