Senior Optical Engineer - Optoelectronics - London - LM1200a

Job Term: Permanent, Full Time, Onsite

Job Outline:

An exciting opportunity is now open for a senior Optical Engineer with passion and experience in experiments, prototyping, and testing.

Working on optical systems and network testbeds using automated measurements, as well as modelling while interfacing with other teams towards product development, you will work iteratively through a series of prototypes to deliver a production-grade solution.

Responsibilities:
  1. Join the optical network integration team and collaborate closely with other teams.
  2. Build optical testbeds and implement automated measurement methodologies to identify system performance limits.
  3. Model and characterise electrical and optical components and end-to-end systems for performance evaluations.
  4. Assess optical transmission and network performance for short-reach AI Networked Systems.
  5. Interface with other internal teams, including PIC design, Integration, Systems and Networks, and PLM.
Skills & Experience:
  1. Hands-on experience in optical communication systems development and testing.
  2. Experience with high-baud-rate direct detect optical communication systems.
  3. Experience with DSP and end-to-end optimisation methods.
  4. Modelling of end-to-end systems, including RF and optical channels.
  5. Test automation and scripting using Python.
  6. A humble attitude and good communication skills.
  7. Ability to create an understanding of complex ideas, concepts, and designs to a variety of audiences from multiple backgrounds.
  8. PhD degree in optical communications, physics, or other relevant fields or experience within the industry.

Candidates MUST be eligible to work and live in the UK. Copies of Visa and Passport will be requested.
