About The Role

We are looking for an experienced and ambitious Cyber Lawyer to join HCR to grow our ever increasing Cyber Security business. This will be a national role servicing clients across our 10 offices nationally and our clients internationally, but we are open minded about where you are based or work from. There is potential for this role to be a Head of Cyber Security or Cyber Security Partner role, for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will likely have their own following but wish to grow a team and build an incident response team, as well as manage their own cases and undertake the day-to-day supervision and support of other members of the team.

Key Responsibilities: In this role, you will be:-

•Working with clients on a wide range of cyber risk matters including on the readiness, respond-and-recover phases.

• Working on a range of data protection, technology and media litigation matters.

• Managing the response to cyber security incidents and data breaches.

• Advising on data protection compliance and privacy issues.

• Supporting clients in implementing cyber security strategies and incident response planning.

• Developing and growing our cyber-focused products and services.

• Managing cyber security incidents including: dealing with attackers, instructing IT forensics firms, engaging PR consultants, advising on notification obligations; managing regulatory investigations (ICO and FCA) and notifying and liaising with criminal authorities.

• Advising on the application of GDPR (Article 3) on international breaches.

• Assisting with business development initiatives for the firm including developing client opportunities and relationships.

• Developing a strong personal reputation and further strengthening the firm’s profile in the cyber market.

• Supporting and leading various thought leadership and broader PR initiatives.

About You

In order to be successful in this role, you will:

• Have strong academics and training from a recognised firm.

• Be at least 5+ years’ relevant PQE.

  • Need to be adept at client management, business development, team building and team management.
  • Have a track record of solid experience in handling a wide range of cyber security and data protection matters
  • Be flexible and committed to the demands of working in crisis situations when required
  • Be commercially astute and entrepreneurial
  • Have a track record of building and supervising colleagues and a wider team
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
  • Be currently working, or have recently worked, at a recognised practice in this field of work
  • Have appropriate market contacts with the ability to generate new leads and business
