An exciting oppotunity has arised in the Rapid Response therapy team for a band 6 physiotherapist. Last year nominated for the clincial team of the year, the Rapid response therapy team focues on avoiding unneccessary hospital admission by having a hollistic approach and completing a comprehensive therapeutic assessment and providing a patient centered treatment at the front door- A& E and AMU

You will be part of a service that operates 8am to 8pm, with flexible working patterns considered. Contribution to a seven-day working rota is a requirement of the role.

As part of improving the services at the front door, the Rapid Response therapy team also plays a vital role in providing therapy within the Frailty intervention team (FIT). A seamless rotation of staff within the Acute medical units and FIT team what makes this a great working team and an excellent for patient's journey and their care.

Maintain respiratory competencies to facilitate participation in out-of-hours service as required.

Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

Supervise and educate undergraduate Physiotherapy students and assess their performance as required to ensure their standard of practice and knowledge meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.

Undertake evidence based audit and research projects to further own and team's clinical practice and make recommendations to the clinical lead of that service regarding changes in practice by the team.

Main duties of the job

Assess and treat patient in Emergency department, Acute Medical Unit and Frailty assessment unit with therapy social needs.

Able to complete a comprehensive and hollistic assessment and discharge plans for patients.

To be able to complete respiratory assessment and treatment for patient needing chest physiotherapy.

To be part of the team inservice and teaching programme.

To be able to coordinate the team as the senior, supervise junior staff members and support workers. Also to take on students from different West Midland Universities

  • Post graduate experience as Band 5 Physiotherapist in a rotational post. Experience must include working within Emergency Care or Medicine in an acute hospital environment
  • Experience of working as part of a therapy team and the wider MDT.
  • Experience of delegating to and supervising Physiotherapy/ Rehabilitation Assistants.
  • Contribution to the clinical education of less experienced staff or undergraduate Physiotherapy students
