Temporary Finance Director

Due to the continued success here at REALTIME we are on the lookout for an experienced finance professional to join us as our brand new Finance Director.
The Finance Director will work alongside our Senior Management Team to ensure that all of REALTIME's finance structures are in place and running efficiently. You will be managing finances across the whole organisation so will be responsible for the creation and monitoring of cost and finance reports/analytics across each business unit.
Financial Planning
Work with the Steering Committee (CEO, Studio Production Director, Non-Executive Chair, Heads of business unit) to contribute to business strategy, analyse market trends and assess risks and opportunities.
Contribute to the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) functions of the projects within REALTIME's business, spanning across all 3 key sectors (Automotive, Games and Episodic).
Forecast revenue and collaborate with Studio Production Director to monitor sales pipeline to ensure adherence to the business plan and financial year targets.
Preparation and presentation of annual forecasts and budgets to Senior Management Teams.
Provide commercial insight to EPs and Producers when preparing new business bids and rebidding on active projects to maximise our profitability.
Support the Assistant Management Accountant with the effective monitoring of cashflow and costs and reporting on weekly cash flow and longer-term cash flow forecasts.
Preparing month end management accounts.
Preparing year end accounts for external Accountants.
Handling statutory payments - PAYE and VAT.
Handling of bank reconciliation.
Provide any payroll support to the HR Manager, Assistant Management Accountant and Office Administrator.
Preparation of a small number of sales invoicing and credit control.
Taking responsibility of the Fixed Asset register.
Production Data Analysis
Develop cost analysis and KPI processes with the Studio Production Director.
Monitor and communicate updates regarding profitability of projects, integrating KPI data and providing recommendations based on findings.
Provide effective financial control and timely and accurate financial management information to Senior Management.
Analyse financial data across various projects for use in monthly State of the Nation meetings.
Attend weekly production meetings to provide input on financial health of active projects, and work closely with Senior Management Teams, EPs and Producers to improve margins and efficiencies.
Support with project end financial summaries.
Have overall pastoral care for the Finance Department, providing leadership and mentorship, absence management and appraisals.
Provide ad-hoc cover for Finance Department duties, including preparation of the monthly management accounts including accruals and prepayments, maintaining fixed asset registers and monthly depreciation and reconciliation of control accounts, data entry of information into the purchase and sales ledger system, creditors and debtors control, assisting in the preparation of payroll/BACS runs, and reconciliation of bank statements.
Collaborate with Head of Skills & Development and Studio Production Director to deliver commercial training to non-financial key stakeholders to ensure the exchange of financial information to and from them is understood and expectations are aligned.
MUST HAVE SKILLS & QUALITIES
Relevant accountancy qualifications (Qualified accountant, ACCA, ACA, CIMA/CA/other).
Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel (e.g. and ability to create and work in complex data models; experience building reports and analytics dashboards.
Good business etiquette with experience presenting to and negotiating with senior management teams.
An understanding of wider business strategy and financial objectives is required.
Ability to confidently introduce and develop new finance analysis/forecasting processes within our business.
Ability to interact with diverse and dispersed teams, building relationships and collaborating with others easily.
BONUS
Experience in the Visual Effects, Animation or Production industry, with experience managing and leading finance or production accountant teams.
Experience working with SAGE payroll/XERO or other tool.
Experience with complex schedules/project planning, preferably within the media and entertainment industry.
