How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? The UK Fleet Project manager will provide technical and project management services to ALUK operations including IPG, Energas and relevant third party agents appointed by ALUK. This will also include collaboration with third party service providers to ensure alignment with current standards and operating practices.

The primary function will be to oversee all UK fleet asset capital refurbishment activities utilising internal and external resources. This role will work closely with respective operational management, with the aim of reducing ongoing capital refurbishment related costs at the same time improving existing equipment safety and reliability.

In addition to capital refurbishment responsibilities, the role will provide technical project support for various fleet and facility maintenance functions within the UK operations organisation.
  • Ensuring appropriate specification, selection and deployment of vehicles to meet operational requirements, safety standards and vulnerable road user considerations
  • Working with relevant departments to ensure company HGV’s and commercial vehicles are updated and or replaced in line with company replacement policies
  • Ensuring decisions relating to vehicle selection are aligned with AL alternative fuels transition objectives
  • Plan and coordinate all critical asset investment projects related to fleet operations to ensure compliance with company maintenance policies, safety standards and technical requirements
  • Ensure investment strategies are in place in order to comply with company guidelines
  • Identification and implementation of critical safety standards to be maintained
  • Control of annual budget requirements to ensure effective investment to improve operational efficiency and safety standards
  • Provide technical support to operational teams on all fleet related dispense systems to maintain technical compliance, operational safety and reliability
  • Review and implement improvements across all systems (cryogenic and electrical) to improve safety, reliability and compliance to AL standards
  • Assessment and validation of new technology/processes to widen business opportunities
  • Collaborate with all relevant business areas to ensure effective change management processes are maintained
  • Continued research and development of new technology opportunities with respect to vehicle 
  • Safety critical system improvements (driver operational safety)
  • Vessel volume/capacity optimisation
  • Preparation of business case justifications to allow effective decisions at business level

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
  • Effective time management and prioritisation principles
  • Technical qualification, minimum HNC/HND level in relevant discipline, e.g. Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety - Desirable
  • Previous experience in a project engineering role in a relevant industry, i.e. process/chemical manufacturing, Automotive manufacturing etc.
  • Proven track record in successfully demonstrating project engineering discipline and theory
  • Evidence of previous performance in which strong technical and practical engineering skills have been demonstrated
  • Good understanding of commercial aspects of refurbishment activities; ability to work to budget and deadlines, whilst maintaining technical standards
  • Determination and commitment to ensure all aspects of the role are fulfilled to the best of their potential
  • Ability to demonstrate sound communication and presentation skills at all organisational levels relevant to the role
  • Competency in risk assessment and SOP generation.
  • Proficiency with IT applications and systems
  • Clean driving license
