Ambulatory Care/SDEC at Grantham Hospital

Come and join our small and friendly team on AAC/SDEC at Grantham. We not only support patients referred by their GPs, UTC and clinics for admission avoidance we also run a day ward service for patients requiring infusions, venesections and monthly injections that can't be carried out in the community.

There are lots of learning opportunities in the department and a team of skilled nurses and HCSW who are happy to support in developing staff.

We currently work Monday to Friday 0830-2130.

SDEC is a consultant led unit with support from an established ACP team.

SDEC sees a wide range of patients from UTC and GP's with a wide range of medical conditions.

Main duties of the job

The staff nurse will be expected to work closely within the team in the delivery of dynamic excellent care. The successful candidates need to possess excellent communication skills, be highly motivated and committed to patient safety and improving patient experience. They will need to have drive and an ability to manage their workloads in a challenging, fun and developing environment.

Qualifications

Essential


  • Registered Nurse Level 1 with NMC

Knowledge, skills, aptitudes

Essential


  • Extended competencies in cannulation, venepuncture, ECG recording and male catheterisation
  • Ability to communicate with effective written and verbal skills
  • Able to organise and prioritise work
  • Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours in line with the Trust framework

Experience

Essential


  • 1 year post registration

Desirable


  • Recent experience of an acute medical environment
  • Demonstrate evidence of the way that research has been incorporated into practice and evidence of ability to introduce and be receptive to change.
  • Evidence of commitment to own professional development
