JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently recruiting for Senior and Principal Technical Environmental Engineers to join our Technical HSE Team based in Reading. You will be a member of the Design HSE Group, within the Engineering Department, and will report to the Group Manager Design HSE. The department sits within the New Energies business of Wood.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Writing Environmental Management Plans and Design Bases
  2. Overseeing environmental aspects of design and associated documentation
  3. Interpreting and applying environmental-related legislation and standards
  4. Conducting environmental impact assessments either directly or through use of third-party consultants
  5. Participating in project reviews
  6. Conducting project audits

Suitable candidates may also take the role of Lead Engineer - leading a team of Environmental Engineers within a project. In this role you will be undertaking the following activities:

  1. Planning activities and deliverables of your team against project schedule
  2. Meeting project deadlines, milestones and budgets for deliverables
  3. Monitoring and directing the work activities of your team
  4. Liasing with project management and client
  5. Communicating with and co-ordinating work with other engineering discipline teams

Our clients are diverse and range from energy transition start-ups to multinationals. Project stages vary from conceptual studies through to detailed design and construction, with significant work on Pre-FEED and FEED phases.

QUALIFICATIONS

Expected:

  • Degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Chemical or Process Engineering
  • Membership of a recognised professional institution
  • Technical competence in core Environmental Engineering subject areas, notably; Emissions Quantification, Dispersion Modelling, Best Available Technology (BAT) Analysis, Risk Assessments, Working knowledge of applicable international standards
  • Experience in the application of Environmental Engineering within a design setting likely to include the following: Oil and Gas, Petrochemical and Refining, LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas), Carbon Capture/ Hydrogen Production
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills, ability to manage own work and the work of others, plus a strong customer focus and team-working skills
  • Ability to work to agreed delivery dates while collaborating with others in multifunctional teams. Good written and verbal communication skills

Desirable:

  • Relevant postgraduate qualification in Environmental Engineering or Sustainability
  • Experience of working in the process industry and energy, oil and gas, refining and petrochemical sectors
  • Leadership skills and experience
  • Commercial awareness
