Homeless Services - Birmingham

We have various volunteer positions available, from reception support, activity and befriending and maintenance /ground support.

About the role

The role involves working within our hostels in Birmingham, which support homeless adults with multiple support needs such as a history of offending, substance misuse, poor mental health.

We have various hours/shift patterns available, whether you want to do just a couple of hours a week, or have capacity to do something more regular, then we could work something out that suits you.

As a Volunteer, you can support with what you have a passion in or are keen to develop in. You could support with groups/activities based on residents needs and interests; engage with residents in communal areas to foster supportive, reliable relationships; and have a craft or skill that you can partake in with the residents or just a passion to give back, then this opportunity is for you.

We welcome people from all backgrounds and walks of life, and we’re grateful to everyone who supports ourteam of specialist support workers.

Our volunteer opportunities don’t need any special qualifications. We’ll make sure you get all the training and support you need. All we ask is that you're kind, open-minded and passionate about supporting people, and have an understanding of theissues faced by people who experience homelessness and a non-judgmental attitude.

No two days are the same and we are looking for a range of skills, expertise and people who believe in being open, compassionate, and bold.

Trident Group has over 60 years’ experience of delivering homes, services and innovationfor up to8,000 people in over 3,600 homes in some of the most disadvantaged communities in the Midlands. The Group employs more than750 staff, works with over 150 volunteers and provides training places and apprenticeships for many more. The Group has an annual turnover of more than £37m and owns assets close than £190m.

The Group consists of;

  • Trident Housing, which provides landlord services for the Group in respect of housing management and maintenance
  • Trident Reach, which is a registered care and support charity delivering person-centred care and support services. These services include supporting people within registered care, domiciliary care, people with learning difficulties, those with mental health needs, young people at risk, older people, BME groups, people at risk of being homeless, those seeking employability, education and training opportunities and those fleeing domestic abuse.
