Cambridge Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom University of Cambridge Full time

We are seeking an enthusiastic Programme Manager to provide operational management of a new collaborative partnership between the University of Cambridge and GSK. The Cambridge-GSK Translational Immunology Collaboration (CG-TIC) will provide translational impact for patients by leveraging the world-class capabilities of Cambridge and aligning these with the strategic R&D priorities of GSK. With an initial focus on renal and respiratory diseases, the collaboration will be funded for an initial 5 years, providing a focus for GSK's ongoing work with Cambridge.

The Role

As programme manager, you will provide overall operational leadership to ensure the smooth running of all aspects of Cambridge's contribution to CG-TIC, including scientific and financial management of activities. In collaboration with researchers from Cambridge University and GSK you will assist in developing plans for the joint projects and drive productive interactions between the Cambridge-GSK teams. This will include identifying risks and implementing strategies to mitigate them. You will oversee management of the budget allocated for the collaboration, working with the University and Department of Medicine finance teams to achieve this. You will also assist with managing recruitment of roles to support the work of CG-TIC and will be a visible point of contact for all aspects related to CG-TIC, involved in setting strategic objectives and solving practical issues with senior scientists and administrative colleagues in Cambridge and GSK.

You will be based in Cambridge, with possible occasional travel within the UK. You will be line-managed by and work closely with Prof. David Thomas, the Cambridge lead for CG-TIC, and will also report regularly to Dr Tammy Dougan, GSK Partnership Manager in the Strategic Partnerships Office.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have experience in project or programme management and be familiar with the workings and processes of the university. They will be educated to at least degree level (BSc level or equivalent), ideally in a subject related to the biosciences, and have a qualification in project management. Excellent communication skills are vital, as are organisational skills and experience with managing complex projects or programmes. The successful candidate will also have proven experience of budget preparation and management, report writing and data management. A positive attitude to problem-solving, an ability to work with people across teams and groups, and a willingness to make things happen are also all advantageous traits for this role.

Informal enquiries regarding this position are strongly encouraged: contact Prof. Dave Thomas ( tdct2@cam.ac.uk ), CG-TIC Cambridge Lead, or Dr Tammy Dougan ( tammy.dougan@admin.cam.ac.uk ).
