What is the purpose of this role?

While working within our team of expert Arborists your role will be to support as a second climber. You will be involved in the delivery of vegetation management for our client ScottishPower.

What will this role involve?

The focus of this role will be all activities required of a second climber with the core focus being on the following:
- Clearance of vegetation to maintain a safety clearance from the overhead powerlines in accordance with safe working practises and as training, certifications and authorisations permit.
- Customer care, dealing with the general public and or their agents.

Key responsibilities:

  • Practical Arboriculture tasks contributing to an efficient combined voltage programme of tree clearance, within prescribed timescales.
  • Climbing, pruning and site tidy up in line with BS3998 2010 and completion of data records with an educated recut estimation.
  • Adhere to all relevant legislation pertaining to tree management in relation to power line clearance, including Tree Preservation Orders, Conservation Area restrictions and European Protected Species.
  • Landowner management including adhering to the agreed access and egress routes, work prescription as detailed on the work pack and maintaining a good communication with landowners when on the work site.
Skills and Experience:
  • A good level of physical fitness
  • Confident and capable whilst working at heights
  • Good working knowledge of Arboriculture machinery
  • A driving licence for working in different locations and transporting equipment. Category BE is desirable.
  • A enjoyment for working outdoors.
  • Ability to read maps.
  • Experience working within Arboriculture and Forestry. You will be able to demonstrate experience of a range of common industry related tasks.
  • Suitable candidates must be familiar with different forms of machinery associated with modern Arboriculture
  • First Aid
  • UA 1,2,2,2,2,3
  • CS 30,31,38,39 or equivalent
