Technical Safety Engineer
Risktec currently has vacancies in our Edinburgh office for consultants experienced in risk management and process safety for industries such as oil, gas, chemical, distillery, and renewables. The role will be based full time in Edinburgh and will involve travel around the UK and abroad. You will be part of an energetic and driven team and will be expected to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues on multiple projects in a supportive, progressive environment. Risktec Solutions is an established, independent and specialist risk management consulting and training company, and is part of the TV Rheinland Group. We assist clients in major hazard industries including oil and gas, chemical, nuclear and transportation as well as commercial and public sectors to manage health, safety, security, environmental and business risk. Our people are high caliber professionals, with a strong focus on meeting clients expectations and we have offices across the UK and in the Netherlands, Dubai, Muscat, Houston and Calgary.
Depending on level of experience, the role will deliver and possibly lead quantitative technical safety projects nationally and internationally. These projects cover a wide range of facilities and plant, processes and operations, for example:
On/offshore oil and gas exploration, production, decommissioning.
The role may involve travel to UK and world-wide locations to meet project requirements, it would therefore, be an advantage (but not a requirement) for applicants to hold a valid passport and driving licence.
Provide technical safety support to senior colleagues and clients, including some or all of:
Consequence modelling (gas dispersion, heat radiation, jet fire/explosion modelling) using industry-standard software and techniques.
Technical Safety Studies (QRA, FERA, EERA, ESSA, TRIA, BRA, OBRA etc.) using industry-standard software and techniques.
Prepare technical proposals and reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring technical accuracy and quality.
Project/client management as appropriate to experience.
3 years plus relevant technical safety studies experience including use of modelling software.
Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent
Software Skills:
Highly computer literate.
Numeracy and skills in quantitative analysis
Experience with analytical software tools.
