An exciting opportunity has arisen for an energetic and highly motivated Tissue Viability Clinical Nurse Specialist, to work as part of the acute team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.


The successful applicant will provide clinical leadership in all aspects of tissue viability ensuring dissemination of good evidence-based practice to professional staff providing both direct and indirect patient care.
Leads best practice wound care for the trust, through education, pathways and procedures with the latest evidenced based research. Undertakes quality improvement initiatives where required to strive for continuous excellence of the tissue viability service and clinical wound care and pressure ulcer prevention practice within the trust.
The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) is the main provider of acute and specialist care services in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We are a teaching hospital in partnership with the University of Exeter Medical School, University of Plymouth School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Peninsula Dental School.


The Knowledge Spa on the Royal Cornwall Hospital site is the base for medical and nursing as well as ongoing education for health professions in clinical and non-clinical roles.

The post holder will initially be based in the specialty of Tissue Viability within the Corporate Care group


The post holder will be a highly experienced nurse who uses specialist knowledge and skills to support the care of patients with complex wounds.


This will include the assessment of complex wounds which will require current evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in order to ensure safe effective quality patient care. Evidence of extended scope competencies in the field of Tissue Viability such as Doppler assessment, Advanced Negative pressure wound therapy, leg ulcer management, advanced wound care
Evidence of continued professional development

Non-medical prescriber

Relevant nursing experience within specialty
Experience of data collection and analysis

Experience of writing reports, policies and educational material.
