Cardiff, United Kingdom Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Full time

We are proud to announce the implementation of the telephone based Mental Health Triage Service, 111 Press 2 service within Cardiff and the Vale.

This is a new service, which has been integrated into the existing 111/ CAV24/7 service, and has been developed for people in mental health distress, to provide access to mental health support 24/7. Individuals calling 111 Press 2 are of all ages and have a broad range of mental health presentations including common mental health conditions (e.g. anxiety, low mood, emotional distress) and acute/major mental illness conditions (e.g. psychosis, bipolar disorder, high risk suicidal behaviours). Therefore, this telephone mental health triage assessment service is delivered by skilled professional staff who will provide sensitive and specialist mental health screening to ensure individuals receive the appropriate outcome.

If you have experience of providing mental health or wellbeing support to people, and the ability to work autonomously, using your own initiative, and are educated to degree level standard or equivalent with evidence of Continuing Professional Development in an area of mental health, we would like to hear from you.

We would welcome you to come and visit the service in advance of application, should you so wish.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 5 wellbeing Practitioner, using a range of psychological interventions and skills, you will provide an all-age service offering high quality telephone triage, coaching, advice, and assessment to individuals presenting with existing mental illness, in mental distress or acute crisis, resulting in a safe and appropriate clinical decision to the population of Cardiff and Vale,

Information, advice and guidance will also be provided for families and carers and there will be a professional telephone line for our partner agencies such as GP's, Welsh Ambulance, Local Authority, Police and the third sector.

The wellbeing Practitioner will work under the guidance of a Senior Mental Health Clinician on a shift basis covering 24 hours a day.

You will be an experienced and confident practitioner who can provide individualised care in line with the organisations core values to deliver a safe and efficient service to those accessing it.

Understand when it is necessary to escalate the call to a relevant registrant, clinician, service or organisation, and be able to confidently manage the transition in collaboration with the relevant person/people.

Pass on information regarding local services that people can be signposted, so that appropriate and continued support is made available where the caller requires more support than can be offered by the Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioner.
