Days & Hours: 12-hour shifts, at 7.00am/pm and before and after school shifts available. Offering up to 3 shifts per week

Thomas responds with a smile when his parents and staff play games with him. Thomas sustained a Perinatal Hypoxic Brain Injury at birth resulting in profound developmental delay, and complex care and medical needs. He receives a high level of support from multiple medical professionals and teams. More information is available on his medical needs when you apply. ‘Team Thomas’ provides round the clock support, and works like a well-oiled machine and ensures that he receives the highest level of care, support, and therapy input.
Thomas benefits from structure and routine throughout the day, he is unable to verbalise his needs, wishes, and wants, so it is vital that his care needs are anticipated; which will be implemented daily by his care team. He attends nursery and his team support him in this setting. The Support Worker will provide support in all aspects of Thomas’ care (day and waking night), including his complex care medical needs (suctioning, PEG feed). Bespoke training is provided, however, due to his high level of needs, you must have previous experience supporting a young person with epilepsy and seizures and suctioning. We have an opening for an experienced support worker to join the team, providing adhoc support, which includes day and night shifts. Rota is provided 4 weeks in advance, although we are unable to guarantee shifts, or set shift, you will provide your availability to the team leader who will try their best to accommodate your availability. You will come into this role with excellent experience supporting a very young child with complex medical needs. Thomas’s family wants a support worker who can see him for who he is You are going to be part of ‘Team Thomas’ so you will work alongside your colleagues, supporting one another, and ensuring Thomas is safe, comforted, and happy.
The Support Worker will receive excellent training in all areas of Thomas care, including suctioning, PEG Feeding, and Epilepsy management. There will be ongoing training, reviews, and support. And you will be very fortunate to be a part of this little boy’s life and dedicated care team.
