About the job:

BBVA is growing its Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) in London. We are hiring an excellent and motivated lawyer to join our dynamic International CIB Legal Team.

Reporting directly to the Head of Legal in the UK, exposure to a significant breadth of product areas will provide an excellent platform for professional development and opportunities for growth in a leading international bank.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  2. Advising, drafting and reviewing a wide range of Global Trade Finance and Distribution products, including supply chain finance, receivables discounting, trade instrument issuance, distribution through insurance and participation agreements, syndicated and bilateral facilities.
  3. Providing English law advice to the Corporate and Investment Banking division of the bank, both locally, to the head office and to international branches.
  4. Analysing and advising on relevant UK regulatory matters, ensuring that contracts remain in compliance with applicable law and regulation and keeping abreast of legislative changes that may affect the bank.
  5. Working closely and directly with international business units, other legal team members and liaising with outside counsel on various matters as and when required.

QUALIFICATIONS


  2. Qualified solicitor in England and Wales.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES/EXPERIENCE/PROFICIENCIES REQUIRED


  2. Would suit candidates with more than 4 years post-qualification experience (PQE) working in a top international law firm; additionally, prior experience in an in-house legal department is also helpful but not a prerequisite.
  3. Experience of LMA facility agreements, BAFT MRPAs and an awareness of insurance and CRR required.
  4. Robust and thorough approach to drafting and reviewing of documentation.
  5. Strong ability to work effectively in multi-cultural, geographically dispersed, virtual teams.
  6. Ability to work well and efficiently under pressure - working outside core office hours in order to meet deadlines, if required.
  7. Ability to manage a high workload consisting of a wide range of multiple competing tasks for various business areas.
  8. Good understanding of the regulatory aspects of banking and finance.
  9. Spanish language skills are helpful but not essential.
