Lead Data Engineer

SQL / SSIS / Data Flows

Up to £70,000 + 10% Bonus + 10% Pension

Milton Keynes – One/Two days per month onsite

This Senior Data Engineering opportunity is to join a rapidly growing financial services organisation, who are going through a data transformation journey. This organisation is investing heavily in Data and taking it very seriously, the aim is to be a data-centric organisation. Additionally, they are not for profit therefore they are not about the bottom line they focus on reinvestment into the company and their employees.

As the Lead Data Engineer, you are joining to lead a data team (2-3 direct reports) within the company’s largest programme of work, which is Actuary. You will be leading on short-term and long-term projects. For example, moving the data from old data sources like Excel and accessing databases to SQL Servers. In addition to improving ETL/Data flows for multiple teams. Furthermore, they want to roll out Python within this team with full training and implement self-serving dashboards. Python would be nice to have, if you do not/have limited experience this will be an opportunity for you to train/have hands-on exposure.

Skills we are looking for:

  • Extremely proficient in SQL and interacting with SQL Servers
  • Strong in SSIS
  • Mentoring / Coaching of junior data professionals
  • Proven experience improving data flows
  • Domain Experience – Insurance
  • Stakeholder engagement

Desirable but not essential:

  • Python
  • Actuary/Pricing/Reserving experience
