We are an award-winning packaging manufacturer based in Hampshire, providing packaging solutions to a wide range of markets, including automotive, defence, and engineering sectors. We are now looking for a General Manager to work alongside and support our current Managing Director to take the business to the next stage of its journey, as we have strong aspirations for growth in the future.

BASIC SALARY: GBP50,000 - GBP60,000

COMMUTABLE LOCATIONS: Basingstoke, Aldershot, Worthing, Portsmouth, Guildford, Southampton

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Managing Director, as our General Manager, you will be directly responsible for the 3 current department managers: Office, Design, and Production. You will also oversee the other 20 members of staff, resolving customer service issues, liaising with 3rd parties, managing health and safety, maintenance issues, design, and any disciplinary matters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage up to 20 members of staff across Office, Design, and Production.
  • Maintain minimum raw material stock levels.
  • Organise machine and transport maintenance plans, including preventative maintenance visits.
  • Oversee site and building maintenance.
  • Responsible for people management, recruitment, motivation, training, and development.
  • Manage health and safety compliance.
  • Control all expenditure within agreed budgets.
  • Maintain the ISO Quality Assurance Accreditation Programme.
  • Provide leadership, strategic direction, and facilities management.
  • Set high personal and professional standards in line with company policy.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
We welcome applications from individuals who meet the following criteria:
  • Proven track record in general, operational, or manufacturing management, preferably in the packaging industry (not essential).
  • Customer-facing experience is desirable.
  • Willingness to be a hands-on manager.
  • Organised yet flexible.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and ISO14001.
  • Experience in organising and developing processes.
  • Driven, enthusiastic, and authoritative.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work autonomously with a methodical approach.
